Tips to Get the Best Price When Selling Your Car
Two identical cars can sell weeks apart and thousands apart. The difference is almost never the car. It is the listing.
Price against real listings, not hope
Search your exact make, model, year and mileage. Look at what is actually selling, not what is sitting unsold.
Photos are the whole game
- Shoot in soft light, early morning or late afternoon
- Clean the car first, including the wheels and glass
- Cover all angles: front three-quarter, rear three-quarter, interior, dashboard, boot, engine bay
- Photograph the flaws too. Buyers trust honesty and it filters out time-wasters
Write a description that answers questions
Service history, ownership count, why you are selling, what has been replaced recently, what still needs doing.
Fix the cheap things
A full valet, a set of wiper blades and a working bulb cost very little and change the first impression completely.
Be responsive
Buyers move fast. Replying within an hour instead of a day is worth more than most people realise.
